Franco,

How do you figure Bayer Aspirin is a "one product" company? Bayer aspirin is currently made by Bayer AG of Germany, formerly known as Miles Pharmaceutials. They also make Cipro, an antibiotic, as well as several blood pressure drugs and an oral drug for diabetes.

Although Bayer AG was the originator of Bayer aspirin, it wasn't until 1994 that they had the right to manufacture aspirin under the Bayer name when they purchased this franchise from Sterling Winthrop Pharmaceuticals (now known as Sanofi Winthrop). After WWII, the Bayer trade mark was taken away from them and given to Sterling Winthrop as part of numerous trade sanctions and penalties impossed on Germany by the US after Germany surrendered.

I used to work for Sterling Winthrop. That's why I know all this.
