Thanks for that, Richard. Always wanting to know what makes people put up things like that. Sure Dorato can look like a promotion. It's got the perfect vehicle for that being on trend with Fruta del Norte (>13.9 million ounces gold). It's also best positioned for an area play across the border in Peru and in an under explored area. Having the major land position in that area, they are also best positions - at least promotionally - to be the "go to" company that helps others get positioned in the area.
By the way Carlos Ballon, as I understand it, has great connection in Peru and has brought the Cardero Group all it's interests there. That he already had ownership interests in these properties doesn't have much to do with whether or not the companies are promotions, does it? If it does, how is that?
As far as the whole group of companies is concerned, major investors include, Euro-Nevada, Luxor Capital, Tocqueville, ERA Resources, Passport, Sprott, Federated, Prudent Bear, Anglo Gold, and others.
Someone may be taking on one or more of these companies as a promotion, but I doubt the principals and major shareholders have much to do with it. Besides, these properties are not without substance, though suffering along with the rest of the junior sector.
On the flip side of the equation, someone could just as well be "warning" on these companies in support of their short interest, no? Hard to tell.
Anyway, I like most of the Cardero Group and hold a few. At present my largest interest among these is in ITH.
Cheers,
