Re: UCLA's study showed that a cluster of four Macs now has the same computational power (and twice the memory) as one of the best supercomputers of eight years ago, a four-processor CRAY Y-MP. The cost for the Mac set-up was also much cheaper, as low as $45/Mflop.

This comparison is meaningless, and appears to be a feeble attempt at getting some publicity for a student Mac association.

Here's a press release of my own: "Mr. Latham's study showed that a single Intel 80486-based system with 8 MBytes of memory is significantly less expensive and more powerful than ENIAC, the most impressive computer of it's time. In addition, Mr. Latham claims a massive reduction in size and power consumption for his system." :-)
