SI-Shark,

Its my understanding that VTSS has patented processes that allow them to manufacture GaAs ICs using standard silicon equipment and EDA software, while their competitors have to develop their own equipment or significantly modify the standard manufacturing tools.

If the GaAs process is relatively simple, why are the chips so much more expensive, and why isn't GaAs used in many more applications given its superior physical properties? Finally, given VTSS's financial success, why isn't anyone else already producing similar products?

The technological barriers to entry are a significant element in the VTSS investment thesis. So far, the lack of competition despite exploding customer demand seems to confirm it.

Any thoughts?
