FX IN EUROPE -Yen soft after aggressive BOJ action
LONDON, June 21 (Reuters) - The yen was soft, holding near three-week lows against the dollar and the euro in European trading on Monday as repeated Bank of Japan intervention kept the market extremely nervous.

In addition to BOJ yen selling, the Finance Ministry's Eisuke ''Mr. Yen'' Sakakibara said Japan did not intend to keep currencies in narrow bands -- which some traders took as a signal Japan would tolerate a sharply lower yen.

''That's certainly the impression that the authorities are trying to give,'' said Francis Breedon, senior foreign exchange strategist at Lehman Brothers in London.
