Stupid. Believing Saddam had WMDs, was good reason to send inspectors. Which is what the UN did.

And as it turned out, the inspectors had turned over almost every rock and leaf in Iraq and found just one item that was considered a breach of the UN requirements -- a few rockets that had ranges slightly longer than permitted by the UN.

After that, they found nothing and neither did Dumbya's own weapons inspection team led by David Kay, which went in after Dumbya kicked out the inspectors and launched the invasion.
