COMPANIES BUILDING NEW PIPELINE SYSTEM IN WEST-CENTRAL SASKATCHEWAN
CALGARY, October 24 /CNW/ - Murphy Oil Company Ltd., Mobil Oil Canada, and CS Resources Limited have launched construction of a new $9.8 million heavy oil pipeline system in west-central Saskatchewan. Construction of the new pipeline is expected to be completed by December 1, 1996. The North-Sask Pipeline is a jointly-owned, dual pipeline system consisting of condensate and heavy oil blend lines. It connects heavy oil production north of the North Saskatchewan River to the Manito Pipeline at Dulwich, Saskatchewan for ultimate delivery to the Interprovincial Pipe Line Inc. system at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan. Dennis Urquhart, Vice President, Supply and Transportation for Murphy Oil, is excited about the new pipeline in an area which has until now only been serviced by the Husky line. ``The North-Sask Pipeline opens up new opportunities for heavy oil producers north of the North Saskatchewan River, and provides these producers with better access to markets via the interprovincial Pipe Line system.'' The pipeline joins Mobil's Celtic Pipeline at Tangleflags with proposed tie-ins to the Murphy battery at North Tangleflags and other producing fields. In 1997, a future pipeline connection is planned to CS Resources' Paradise Hills heavy oil production. Discussions concerning the tie-in of additional heavy oil production properties are also underway. The Murphy operated pipeline will consist of approximately 70 km of new and existing dual blend and condensate lines ranging from three inches (88.9 mm) to ten inches (273.1 mm) in diameter. The lines will have a capacity for up to 6,000 cubic metres per day of raw crude when fully powered and will deliver specification blend heavy oil to the Manito Pipeline at Dulwich.
