09 Feb 2007 11:18 GMT DJ DATA SNAP: OECD Dec Leading Indicator At 109.9 From 109.6

The OECD, which recently launched leading indicators for the world's largest emerging economies, said the data point to a "weakening outlook for Russia" and "strong growth in China, India and Brazil."

The six-month rate of change for Russia's CLI "shows a downward trend since May 2006," the OECD said.

The OECD's CLIs are designed to provide early signals of turning points between the expansion and slowdown of industrial activity, which itself is a good leading indicator for economic activity as a whole. It usually takes at least three successive monthly increases in the rate of change before a turning point is indicated.

The following table give the OECD's composite leading indicator for December and November and gives a trend for the indicator's six-month rate of change.
