Ravel,
I agree about SyQuest products in general. High quality, high performance, low price. I'll reserve my opinion on SparQ until it's been on the market for a couple of years. I think SyQuest probably cut corners on this product to achieve the $199 price point.
In fact, my first removable storage drive was SyQuest's EZ135 (internal). It was faster than Zip, with more capacity, and cheaper. I loved it.
Problem was....no one that I knew owned one. All of my friends own Zip. I couldn't share anything with them. I finally broke down and bought a Zip drive. It works flawlessly. Best of all, it's easy to exchange data.
Yea, Iomega really knows how to market a product. But that's not Iomega's problem. It's SyQuest's problem. The blame rests solely on the company. I've yet to see a single TV ad for SyQuest.
The really big problem with SyQuest product now is that the company itself is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. I'd hate to buy a SparQ or a SyJet drive, only to find out next year that product support and new cartridges will be non-existent.
