Just stepping in for a moment to note that just as there is sexism in the world, there is "classism." There are some maids and some dirt-poor farmers in my family tree and I'm proud of them. My great aunt Kate managed a laundry to keep her sister's family fed after my grandfather died; she was tough as nails, yet a more cultured woman would be hard to find. Intelligence and grace are not limited to the middle and upper classes.
