Oracle, Siebel, Microsoft: Still Believe Software Business a Little Better
12/13/01 8:32am ET

Oracle Corp. (MO) will report earnings after the close today, and there should be little surprise given the effective preannouncement on November 12. We expect license revenues to decline by 24%. Management recently commented that business appeared to be stabilizing. Separately, we believe that the current quarter for Siebel Systems (RL) is likely coming in as expected, with gradual improvement in closings of enterprise software contracts. The quarter for Microsoft Corp. (RL) also is likely shaping up as expected, with some benefit from stronger consumer demand and a very successful roll-out of the Xbox and related games.
