The general rule of thumb is that a very skilled low limit player who choses good games, maintains his discipline and avoids going on tilt can average approximately 2 big bets/hour. That would apply to $5/10, therefore a reasonable expectation for a 6 hour session would be $120/night on average. To make a real good living, you'd generally need to play bigger, $20/40 on up. At those levels, the expectation is less than a big bet (and sometimes less than a small bet) per hour. The variance is higher at those levels (ie, the chance you'll wipe out a bankroll of a given size during a negative swing). And of course, the skill level needed to beat the game is higher; mid- and high-limit games are usually tougher (often MUCH tougher) than their low-limit counterparts.

In short, it probably can't be done at $5/10 (unless the game is ridiculously soft), although it can be a profitable and fun pasttime at those limits. Michail would have better first hand info on all this than me because he plays higher than I do.
