He could fire him. He could take him aside and tell him he's unhappy with the job Sessions is doing and give him the option of fixing the problem or resigning, but why go to the NYT?

It was understandable when he fired Comey, he waited until he was all the way across the country so his office could be cleared out.

I thought at the time it was a bit harsh, but now understand it. But this seems a bit beyond harsh. Your boss announces to the whole world that he's unhappy with the job you're doing and uses his enemy to deliver the message? Sessions gave up his Senate seat.
