During the late 50s and early 60s I think the $CDN was actually at times a couple of cents more expensive than USD, but I think since 1980 or so the Canadian dollar has always been below the USD. The fact that the Canadian auto industry is probably not going to be producing a lot of cars and Canada is being thrown back more on her raw materials could make $CDN weak for a some time. Raw materials do not make for a strong currency. That is an opinion. I am not sure what rate was during the 30s.
