K7Nerd - Re: "I take to mean that Intel has started large production lots and will get parts to OEMs early enough for PC shipments in volume during early November which means they make xmas."

Intel has made excellent progress in determining some of the speed limiting problems of the 0.18 micron Coppermine - and has demonstrated some substantial improvements in speed on engineering lots.

Intel continues to make progress in these areas.

November Coppermine CPU shipments looks very promising - If the Pentium III-600 MHz/Camino-820/Rambus infrastructure is in place by that time, swapping a 600 MHz Pentium III with a Coppermine of equal - or better - speed should be a straightforward matter - especially for those PC OEMs with an efficient Build-to-Order manufacturing model.
