Reuters Broadcom head sees profit this qtr before items Thursday January 23, 5:00 pm ET
LOS ANGELES, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Communications chip maker Broadcom Corp. (NasdaqNM:BRCM - News) will return to pro forma profitability in the current quarter, the company's outgoing president and chief executive said on Thursday. ADVERTISEMENT On a conference call to discuss the company's quarterly results, Henry Nicholas III said "We expect Broadcom to return to pro-forma profitability this quarter."
Analysts surveyed by Thomson First Call had expected the company to report a pro-forma profit of 1 cent per share in the current quarter, with a range of estimates from a loss of 1 cent to a profit of 3 cents.
For the fourth quarter, the company had a pro forma loss excluding charges of $6.6 million, or 2 cents per share.
Nicholas, who co-founded the company, also addressed his resignation, saying it was prompted by family matters, including his divorce. |
