I suggest you e mail both companies and get a free investor information package. Both companies sent copies of the analyst reports (none of the big Wall Street firms cover these companies at
present). LJPC has a lupus drug in Phase 3 trials, paid for by Abbott Labs. The lupus market is estimated to be 1 billion dollars per year.
SUPG has a very promising drug for pancreatic cancer in Phase 3 trials. They also have other products. Pancreatic cancer patients typically survive only a few months. The FDA will lean over backwards to approve a new drug for such a lethal disease when there are no effective treatments. The Phase 2 results were excellent. By the way, SUPG has a new shareholder and board member, Larry Ellison,
the founder of Oracle. I don't think they will run out of money. The
cancer drug is derived from tree bark, as is Taxol. The guy who ran
BMY's taxol project is working for Supergen. One of the co-founders
of Amgen is the founder of Supergen. An effective pancreatic cancer drug would be a blockbuster. The drug probably would work on some other cancers, which could make the market bigger. The key element to biotech investing is to not put all your money in one company. Instead, buy some stock in several. And then be patient and follow their scientific progress. Buy more stock in the companies that make progress.
