It's interesting to read this thread/yahoo and see how caution is
creeeping into the messages. I keep remembering the old gold miners
who would find a chunk of quartz with some gold in it, and take it
in to be assayed. Of course, they picked the chunk with the most
gold in it. Thus, their mine would seem to have the richest deposit
of gold ever discovered, even though there might only be traces of
gold in all the other tons of rock. Still, based on this one chunk
of gold, they could even sell stock in their gold mine.
The F-T process is still new. Just as SLHO claims a 90% versus
Rentech's 80% recovery, I think only time will tell which process
will really be more efficient. You have to scale the process
up to cover the whole gold mine, and as you do so you learn.
Because Rentech is further along than SLHO, it may actually
know it's going to recover 80%, whereas SLHO is still guessing
based on a small test sample, just like the miner with the
richest chunk of quartz
