So from what you are saying, it is ok in ads to distort your own record and your opponents record as long as you claim it to be a policy difference and therefore it is not a negative ad.

You are also looking at the experience difference in the most negative manner. I don't believe the argument was framed that way but maybe that is just the way I am remembering it. I thought the argument was framed more along the lines that "I have more experience and therefore am more qualified to be president."
I am not saying that experience is the only issue that should be considered. But if one candidate has more than the other, it is something that I think is ok to bring up.

What I find interesting about all this is that the young voters are going for Obama. I think these are the voters for whom experience is probably the least important thing.

Just my opinion though. Reasonable people can disagree.
