the environmental wackos continue to protest the hunt.

These people are clueless - they protest hunters that would pay for the opportunity to thin the overpopulation problems and contribute money in tags and processing costs. Then when the problem becomes dangerous they beg fish & game to hire contract hunters to remove problem bears at a significant cost to the taxpayers. They used to relocate bears - but studies have shown that creates more issues.
