Seems to me that QUALCOMM is way ahead in its ASIC development and first to market is critically important.After all GSM was able to gain a large part of the world market in digital wireless interface due to its early to market sucess.QUALCOMM has honed its ASIC development with faceing catching GSM all these years and fully mastered the art of ASIC rapid deployment in as much as they have ASIC excellence.The WCDMA consortium is worried at this point and I belive they will make a deal once they see the tech world focus on the awesome power of ultra fast mobil computing with the imprint "Digital by QUALCOMM" on the covers of these new devices.
