jay..despite all those observations businesses ww are buying pcs and servers and workstations and ERP's. I/S is retooling. I'm at small company now but I was able to cut my phone and long distance bills by almost 5k per mon. becasue capital equipment can be leased or depr'ed. I bot almost 300k of computers and client server software at no increase in monthly I/S expense. did it at last company too. the telecom compnaies are fueling this growth free for any smart I/S director <g> Increased supply and technology change is the issue.. Of course for allot of eco reasons that you didn't name I think that economy is slowing... But, guess what when business slows down the smart companies use that time to retool their I/S infrastructure so you cannot predict that I/S budgets tank when infact history show that I/S can increase during these slowdowns.. Of course we only had I/S since 60's. Anyway... increased supply and technology change is the issue not store tours.
