fp_scientist,

re:"Over the long run, the stocks that have made me *money* are the ones which have consistently reported good earnings and beaten estimates. Short term, PR helps; long term, earnings is it. Not just one or two quarters ... you have to show ability to grow and make money ... over years. AMD is still climbing the wall of worries..

I think the wall of worry is a factor with high risk high reward hi-tech stocks.

Hell AMD could truly hit $500 next year- I can postulate several scenario's where this happens.

It could just as easily go back to $15 A share as well.

I bought AMD in the 18-20 range.

It then doubled to $35 early last year.

When the first bad news showed up - i remeber Paul engel getting out at 25 or so and shorting.

Then it promptly fell to the depths of $12 intraday.

Then it has climbed to $95 a few weeks ago.

I see huge potential volatility in the stock.

There are many factors which will be important -- some macro such as overall market, some dictated by AMD's execution and some by Intel's execution as well.

With my traumatic experience on the stock i plan on staying vigilant, and with my finger on the buy and the sell button.

regards,

Kash
