Nuera Demonstrates Award-Winning F200ip Voice Over Frame/IP Gateway at Networld+Interop/CommUnity '97
ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 8, 1997--
Nuera's F200ip Wins Telecommunications Magazine's ''Product of the
Month'' Award for September 1997
When Networld+Interop/CommUnity opens here on Oct. 8, Nuera Communications Inc., a leader in integrated voice/data networking systems and technology, will demonstrate its award-winning Access Plus F200ip voice FRAD/IP gateway server at Networld+Interop/CommUnity '97, Atlanta, Booth No. 2637.
The F200ip was recently named ''Product of the Month'' for September 1997 by Telecommunications magazine.
Citing National Software Testing Laboratories (NSTL) tests in which Nuera's Enhanced CELP (E-CELP) compression technologies led all competitors in quality in the ''Voice over Frame Relay'' category, Telecommunications magazine also praised Nuera for its industry-leading demonstration of ''the first integrated Voice over IP and voice/data frame relay access device.''
According to Andy Voss, vice president of marketing: ''In a well-designed network, Nuera's enhancements in packet voice technology mean that carriers as well as corporate and OEM networking customers can now achieve the same excellent quality over frame relay or IP as over an ATM or TDM network but with improved efficiency and greater cost savings.''
Jeff Pulver, president of Pulver.Com, organizer of the Voice on the 'Net conference, adds, ''Internet Telephony audio quality and delay must approach levels comparable with traditional voice networks to attract the kind of users who represent the bulk of current spending on long-distance and international voice and fax traffic.
''Equipment that improves voice quality and reduces delay should help Internet telephone service providers attract and retain the more profitable customers who currently subscribe to traditional voice services.''
Frame Relay-Ready and Internet-Ready Voice/Fax System Meets Current and Future Requirements
Supporting phone-to-phone connections over frame relay, Internet and private IP networks, the F200ip features E-CELP along with Ethernet-based IP transmission and serial frame relay trunks supporting full T1/E1 throughput. The F200ip offers software-configurable analog voice interfaces, digital T1/E1 PBX interfaces and capacity for up to 30 voice/fax channels per unit.
The F200ip can route calls based on user selection or system manager configuration. Ethernet support enables F200ip units to be scaled up to configurations supporting tens or hundreds of T1/E1 PBX connections and thousands of voice channels as packet voice applications grow.
Network Management and Training
The F200ip will include an embedded Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) agent that can be managed under any SNMP-based manager as well as under Nuera's HP OpenView for Windows workstation manager. Nuera's F-Series configurator is designed to facilitate installation and configuration of the F100, F200 and F200ip products in public and private network applications.
Nuera offers free product training for carriers, systems integrators, distributors and end users at its San Diego headquarters.
Availability and Pricing
Nuera's Access Plus F200ip will begin limited shipments in fourth-quarter 1997. The F200ip base price is $4,195. Voice channel prices range from $1,000 per port for digital modules to $1,400 per port for analog modules. All support fax transparency.
