Vince,

Vanguard's talking primarly about MIS, theirs and companies connected to Vanguard. There will be "firewalls" in place to not allow non-compliant data into their system. No TPRO business here.

However, all of the companies they interface with will have embedded systems problems in one way or another. Not necessarily anything that TPRO would be involved in, however.

Examples of embedded system problems which could directly impact them, and companies they interface with, are:

SECURITY SYSTEMS: People can't get into their offices

AC/HEATING: Some local laws state that if these systems don't work for a certain amount of time, under certain conditions, it's considered a health hazard, and companies cannot require employees to work without getting fined. Probably in some union contracts, too.

PBX SYSTEMS: Potential problem in some systems. They might not be able to transfer data over phone lines to Vanguard.

Even if they have the mainframe problems taken care of, they still need people in the office to input and transfer data. And, they need their telephone systems to work.

I've only referenced a few items where known problems currently exist. For more information on embedded systems, see:

FYI: Elevators will not be dropping down chutes. Some will simply go down to the basement, and stay there ... until made compliant. Something to think about, if you work in a hi-rise. Might wanna bring this up to building management.
