I think I am lucky. I think it would be supremely arrogant of me to be grateful (to chance?) as if being who I am were my due. It is a bon chance. And other people suffer from bad luck. I don't happen to believe it is the fault of someone that they are born poor, or into a severe trouble spot, just as it is not owing to anything in particular that I have such a super life. But I'm careful with my life too. I'm not about to throw it away like the silly hare. I suspect it's the only one I'll get in this most pleasant form, and I intend to keep it for awhile.
