Dave, a convertable debenture is a bond that thinks it is stock. Actually, if offers a conversion feature which allows the holder or issuer to convert the bond into a specfied amount of shares at a set conversion price. It is kind of like buying a long term option that pays you interest and hopefully does not deplete. Hope this answered your question.
