This China deal could be big!
Let me highlight a couple of parts of the news release, lest it get lost in everything else going on.
"In a partnership deal that could support several million Internet subscribers over a three year period, Shanghai Bell, who is majority owned by the MPT, will market, promote and support carrier grade access solutions for Internet applications. The products include Alcatel's A1000ADSL and Ascend's MAX and MAX TNT WAN access switches, and the Ascend GRF family of high performance IP switches."
Several million users over 3 years? They better start another assembly line!
"Xu Zhi Qun, deputy general manager of Shanghai Bell, said, "We looked at all of the major Internet access products on the market and Ascend's MAX and TNT family are the clear leaders in this field. Its carrier class architecture provides the highest quality Internet access services. In addition, Ascend is a clear leader in the field of virtual private networking." "
Clear leaders! Highest quality! I hope this reflects ASND's true perception by customers.
"The Internet is growing rapidly in China and Shanghai Bell is quick to realize the potential of this market segment.
They are already the leader in the Carrier voice switching business in China and with the trend toward multimedia over IP and high speed services, this will strengthen its position in this very important market through the synergy between the voice and data markets." Curtis Sanford, senior vice president, international of Ascend Communications, said."
"Ascend has enhanced its products for the China market and has established itself as the leader in Internet access for this market."
Anyone know what these enhancements might be? |
