Actually Athlon is well designed in that most of the optimization rules that come into play for the P6 core are very applicable to the Athlon. In other words, for most operations you don't even need to touch your source code for a big performance boost. Athlon will even schedule bad code better.. so... no need for ISV's to do all that hard work. Isn't that nice of AMD.
