AMEX lists new derivative on Oracle stock

CHICAGO, March 16 (Reuters) - The American Stock Exchange
(AMEX) said Monday it began trading in a hybrid derivative
called Indexed Callable Protected Growth Securities (ProGroS)
on Oracle Corp shares.
The Oracle ProGroS were underwritten by Merrill
Lynch & Co Inc, the exchange said. Oracle Corp is
neither affiliated with the issuer nor a participant in the
offering, it said.
The instruments, issued at $10 each, offer upward
participation in Oracle's common shares with an assurance of
100 percent principal return at maturity on March 31, 2003.
The payment at maturity will be based on the sum of the
principal amount of $10 and a supplemental amount, if any. The
supplemental amount would be $10 multiplied by any percentage
increase in Oracle's stock price. The supplemental amount may
be zero but will not be below zero.
Cranmer & Cranmer/Raymar Capital Inc will be the specialist
unit on the AMEX floor.
