GK7 lite AMD Interview - seaQuest AMD - 10:44AM AEST
Good morning all, and thankyou for waking me up (Carlo), well, we have recived the first batch of questions back from AMD's Drew Prairie about the Athlon, here comes the madness:

[GK7] I know that the Athlon is already shipping, but when the official release date to sell the Athlon is announced will it be a worldwide release or will it be the US who gets Athlons and the rest of the world has to wait?
[AMD] While I can't give you the exact date when people will begin sellingthe AMD Athlon processor, I can tell you that we plan to have system savailable on shelves in August. This goes for the US and other major regions around the world.

[GK7] How much will we have to pay for a Slot A motherboard?
[AMD] We won't be making the motherboard so I don't know how much other companies will charge. The Athlon processor is made for high-volume markets, so the motherboard price must be in-line with the costs of other industry standard motherboards (Slot 1 etc).

[GK7] What are the name of Slot A motherboards? Will they go along the same lines as Intel with their LX, BX, ZX etc. as I have heard the name AMD750 tossed around.
[AMD] The AMD-751 and AMD-756 are actually the names of our chipsets andnot the motherboard name. The 751 is the nortbridge, and the 756 is the southbridge. These will be the initial logic chips available for the AMD Athlon platform.
Ohh okay, I got this one cleared up, AMD will be producing the chipsets, not the motherboards.

Okay thats out "lite" AMD Interview, keep on e-mailing your AMD Athlon related questions to me by the Wednesday, hopefully we will squeeze some more AMD info out before it is officially released :)

3DNow.Net on AMD - seaQuest AMD - 10:40AM AEST
Looks like 3DNow.Net (I think this is their first mention on GK7), has a few quick questions from AMD, worth a look.

****************************
What kind of K7 volume would enable AMD to do US and other major regions around the world at the time system available on sale?
