Buckley didn't know, but Bush did know, in so far as he is capable of "knowing" anything, that the justification offered for the war was a crock. The WH manipulated information coming from the intelligence agencies to make it sustain a predetermined intent to invade Iraq. And conveniently, after the election, the public will be allowed to receive that part of the 9/11 Commission's report on exactly how this material was massaged and cosmetized.

There is no evidence that Bush agrees with Buckley. Bush is still defending the invasion and occupation on utterly new grounds, different from those he adduced when he was conning the country into supporting him.

That is unAmerican. To tell the truth is not a disservice. To perpetuate a lying myth is a disservice to those who are now slated for their roles in this bloody quagmire he has conjured up.
