The one in question cited that the US would hunker down in wait of reinforcements dues in 2 weeks.

Well, the one I've pointed to says there'll be heavy fighting for a few days, then resupply. If you're referencing another one of the articles there do give a link - possibly '2 weeks' from when it was written refers to the guys arriving now, who it yesterday said will be ready by the start of next week?

Lastly, if you've still got guerilla fighters in a town during a guerilla skirmish then by definition it isn't conquered. Saying it is just isn't true. (And the ship certainly didn't come in straight away, although there were also mines found even after the town was genuinely secure).
