Robert Jastrow was the first head of NASA's Goddard Institute of Space Studies (1961-1981). GISS was about SPACE STUDIES then. After Jastrow, modeler James Hansen took over and turned it into a climate propaganda agency. Jastrow was a skeptic of catastrophic manmade global warming and didn't like the politicization of science and cofounded the George Marshall Institute to counter it. GISS doesn't study space anymore. Hansen ran GISS till he retired in 2013. Then he handed it off to his stooge, Gavin Schmidt, another modeler. |
