Landstar Today:

I see the industry as 3 pronged...Used to be 2.

1. Rubber products are made from virgin rubber
This is very profitable.

2. Rubber is ground up to make mats or additives to other products.
Not very profitable, lots of companies struggling.

now 3. Devulcanization (making new rubber from old)
medium profitability (being conservative).

Amazingly I had the idea that this company would concentrate on only part 3.. This is not the case, management just took a huge step up in my opinion as they will focus
on being 1, 2, and 3 all in one company....What a stroke of genious!!

This allows 3 things to occur
1. Get struggling crumb rubber companies to join Landstar..
2. plug in the crumb (which was making poorly profitable mats) into the devulcanization in socket....making highly profitable devulcanized rubber.
3. Undercut some of the finished virgin rubber product manufacturers.

End point? PROFIT!! Increased Share Value!!

Not to mention a new paradigm in rubber recycling!! Which is why I think we will see tires in recycling blue boxes.
