That sounds like a smart thing to do. I heard a radio story awhile ago that talked about how most of the black walnut groves in this country were devastated just to make rifle stocks for WWI. It was also highly prized by European cabinet makers.

The story went on to say that if you have any walnut trees on your property, even one, to treat it with kid gloves as it is worth a hard dollar if it is pristine. Its unbelievable that what was a fairly common tree early in the century is now very scarce.
