Mr. Berman is the author or editor of five books, including A Tale of Two Utopias: The Political Journey of the Generation of 1968; Blacks and Jews; Debating P.C.: The Controversy Over Political Correctness on College Campuses; Make-Believe Empire: A How To Book; Quotations from the Anarchists. He was a MacArthur Fellow from 1992-1996. He contributes a monthly TRB column for The New Republic,and is a member of the editorial board of Dissent Magazine. Formerly he was a regular contributor to The Village Voice in the 1970s and The Nation magazine in the 1980s. He was a Fellow of the New York Public Library’s Center For Scholars and Writers (1999-2000)
