I don't think you got an answer to your problem. I doubt very much that I can help you, but will try.

I ran a scan Saturday that outputs: symbols.lst It contains symbols on equities from the 3 major exchanges. No funds, warrants etc. At the same time I used the command to populate virtual directories with that same scan. A version of this came with your QP2 package.

If you didn't want to have virtual directories with everything, you should still be able to output "symbols.lst" and then use that as input for your new scan. Since you say you don't have problems with this when you use input lists. Worth a shot!
