Good Morning Jill:

I have been selling covered calls on a monthly basis for the past 7 months now. AOL was a favorite of mine to do so because that was my core position, I was able to extract about 1.5 point selling as far out of the money as possible usually about a week before options expiration. Selling 120 contracts at 1.5 per month (also doing so with JDSU, JNPR, ORCL, QCOM), yielded a nice monthly income. After the merger of AOL with TWX, I sold my position in aol and bought into qcom. Feeling now that I got cought with my pants down in this downdraft). The one thing that I have found with selling CC is that I try to sell them with as short a time frame as possible, because of the (or was) upward volatility of this stock. I didn't want to stay committed to any CC for any extended period of time. The shorter the better.
