"One other difference is that AMD was making a profit two years ago. Now AMD looks like it might come close to break even this quarter, but next quarter could be ugly. It all depends on whether or not corporations will move into another replacement/upgrade phase soon."

All depends how one sees the economic recovery and how one sees AMD positioned within that recovery model...My view is that recovery is underway for a few companies, AMD being one, as indicated by strengthening inventories (i.e sold out XP's)and basing flash...In q1 as recovery expands, the most likely scenario from my vantage point is a significantly higher percentage of XP's in the mix with resulting increasing ASP's and an improving flash, which 2 factors will more than offset any seasonal tail off in q1 PC processor demand...If I have the recovery cycle accurately pegged, I'd expect an explosion in AMD revenues in q2, q3 and q4 but for the moment that's getting way ahead...

Two years ago, flash was already kicking in bigtime which it certainly isn't at the moment (fortunately Athlon processors are much more strongly positioned this goround compared to last when the Athy was still an unproven competitor waiting to prove itself)...I'd argue that all that flash potential will again be realized in any recovery!!!
