The wall may begin on May 6

The government is taking bids for construction of Rio Grande Valley, Texas, section of the MAGA wall.

The Army Corps of Engineers is seeking bids for "RGV-01 Design-Bid-Build Construction Project."

 The solicitation stated: "Construction services required include Design-Bid-Build construction of approximately 3 miles of levee wall on the south toe of the U.S. International Boundary Water Commission (IBWC) levee in the Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol Sector. This project may also include installation of fiber optic cable, lighting systems, and construction of an all-weather patrol road and enforcement zone."

The bid would be awarded on May 6 or so, and the project would take 300 days to complete.

The solicitation also said, "The Government may elect to establish a competitive range to enter into discussions with. The Government will evaluate the proposals in accordance with the criteria described in the solicitation, and award the FFP Contract. The government may elect to award to other than the low-price offer in accordance with the evaluation provisions of the Solicitation. Additional proposal evaluation information will be provided in the Solicitation to include evaluation factors and weighting."

Eight companies built prototypes in the San Diego area last fall in a competition for that contract. No word yet on who won that contest.

The project is proceeding at the Speed of Government.
