Franz, it is clear from your discussion that you don't understand thin client technology. The difference from the past is that you replace "dumb remotes" with "smart remotes", that is, the processor and memory power is so cheap now, that essentially it cost little to add that to the network/video package of a graphics terminal. So, like a PC, you run the applications locally, but you also take advantage of the net to serve all apps and files remotely. Actually, this is "old" in the sense of how almost everyone runs larger UNIX installations: NFS serve while running apps locally. The advantage? Maintenance is on the server (cheaper), but processing power is on the client, and these clients a simple desktop units, easier to configure and maintain than UNIX client boxes. MIS managers are going to eat this up... They won't have to leave their desks ;-)
