Dear Martin: So true. Here is a perfect local example and its a large Utility. Fla. Power and Light brought in a new CEO some years ago. Broadhead is his name. Prior to him FP&L had the HIGHEST safety record ever recorded at their nuclear power plants. In an effort to boost earnings upon which all his "gimmees" were based he promptly FIRED all the experienced blue collar repair and maintenance people pushing the work up to their white collar supervisors. Well, I will let the results speak for themselves. Now FP&L nuclear power plants have had so many "incidents" that they operate with the Commissions people on site ALL THE TIME and have one of the WORST records in America now. Also, many problems throughout the system. Earnings are up, as costs down, BUT now several years later we are left with many problems, some of them even dangerous IMHO.
As they say, "there oughta be a law" JDN
