DBCC Announces Integrated Trading Solution for Active and Day Traders

Business Wire - February 18, 1999 08:33

HAYWARD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 18, 1999--Data Broadcasting Corp. (Nasdaq:DBCC) (DBC), America's leading provider of Internet-delivered, real-time streaming financial market data to traders and individual investors, Thursday announced a partnership with Preferred Interactive Inc. to provide an integrated trading solution to active and day traders.

Preferred Interactive, through its affiliated broker/dealer, Preferred Capital Markets Inc., brings Preferred Trade, a custom, low cost, electronic securities execution and real-time account access software for the self-directed trader, to DBC's online product offering.

Preferred Trade is the front-end software allowing for online trading through Preferred Capital Markets, utilizing automatic order routing and execution for listed stocks, Nasdaq trades and option trades.

Through this integrated alternative trading system solution, Signal Online and StockEdge Online users can conveniently click on Level I or Level II data on their screens, and an order entry window from Preferred Trade's software will automatically appear ready-to-send.

Traders sending OTC orders through Preferred Capital Markets' Preferred Trade system will have the opportunity to realize possible improved pricing and faster order execution via the various electronic trading networks known as ECNs.

This partnership marks DBC's continuing effort to provide traders the resources necessary to make educated trading decisions through one simple process. DBC customers may begin using the online trading services immediately.

"DBC looks forward to the opportunity to better service our active traders," said Mark Imperiale, DBC's president. "Along with the already robust analytical tools we provide, integrated trading was the next logical step. In Preferred Capital, we have found a sound partner with quality trading systems."

"We have been involved in real-time electronic trading for more than a decade, and our Preferred Trade Internet system has been in use for the past two years," said Michael Engman, chairman and president of Preferred Capital Markets. "Preferred's customer service and trading experience gives our clients a valuable tool for online trading, especially when integrated with the data systems offered by DBC."

Signal Online provides continuous streaming real-time quotes for U.S. equities as well as futures and options data, featuring Nasdaq Level II Market Maker information. Delivered worldwide over the Internet, clients receive data through their PCs and laptops via phone lines or wireless connection, making it possible for users to easily track their portfolios from their offices, homes or while traveling.

Other features include limit alerts via pager, e-mail or cellular phone, headline tickers, detailed portfolio management windows and fundamental data.

Data Broadcasting enjoys strategic alliances with software providers Equis International (Nasdaq:RTRSY) and Omega Research (Nasdaq:OMGA); news and commentary providers Dow Jones (NYSE:DJ), Marketguide (Nasdaq:MARG) and Baseline (NYSE:PMK); and also enjoys a joint venture with CBS Broadcasting Inc.
