I just read an interesting article in this month's PC Magazine. John Dvorak talked about D-VHS (digital VHS) and his opinion that it will "take the USA by storm and swamp DVD". Has this been discussed here before? It is the first I've read of it. It appearantly will be able to hold 44 gigabytes of data. It will be able to make perfect copies of digital feeds (DBS, HDTV, etc). It could also serve as a massive backup device. I'm not sure how this will affect DVD on the computer, but it sure could kill it for TV use. I'm not that optimistic about DVD's future yet. It has taken so long to get going and no one can seem to agree on standards. Before anyone flames me, I have NO position in CREAF and in fact, I am considering purchasing some when it stabilizes a little.

Any opinions?

Alex
