Sarmad has a bleeding heart and that aint such a bad thing. We need folks like him to balance us macho guys. We dont always get it right. In answer to your question, yes the Afghans are better off for now but i suspect things will get worse there again. Some places will be last to make progress. Sub Saharan africa is another sad case. There is more hope for middle east, particularly Iraq after saddam is ousted, and hopefully replaced by good guys with the US backing it up with a Marshall Plan for Iraq and for the rest of the mideast that undertakes reform, both political and economic. If only the afghans had oil. mike
