Actually, acquisitions are usually made with high-priced
stock. I guess this refers to on a P/E basis which will
remain the same regardless of a split(but changes as
a stock advances or declines).
Merck may buy a small company but has repeatedly stated
that they will remain independent(read no mergers) to retain
their corporate character.
