This is the meat of the article. I've been reading about the strong and diversifed domestic marketplace China has built. Side by side choices of product, Chinese are increasingly choosing products of Chinese design and made by pure Chinese companies. In electronics, the Chinese have an array of high quality domestic products. Supposedly a phone is close to production that will compete well with Apple phones.

It's not clear what these tariffs can actually accomplish relative to the longer arc of Chinese mercantilistic goals.
