The additional observations you have made go without saying, and you have apparently read my analogy; yet still you fail to grasp the most simplistic point. How you fail to comprehend an argument you just layed out yourself is beyond me but let me put in a way which I would have thought condescending had you not advertised such a lack of comprehension on this matter. Moreover, this will probably be useful to the majority of those who really don't have any reason to know this outside of mild curiosity:

C is a portable language and Unix is not a language, period. Likewise, the Java programming language is a portable language and Java is itself is not a language.

I suppose it's fortunate for you that they did not call C the Unix programming lLanguage as clearly you would never be able to make the distinction. Most people have that capacity so it's not generally a problem. AFA the pointless rambling about Unix portability, do we really need to regurgitate these almost universally known histories as if you were making some sort of revelation? I'm beginning to think I am talking to the programmatic equivalent of Norm.
