On one page there was a full page ad showing maps of the Middle East taken out of 5th grade textbooks printed in Syria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and a couple of other Middle East countries. In every case, the area where Israel should have been located, was labeled Palestine. It was the same way with Kuwait and Iraq. Winston Churchill used to say these artificial borders created after WWI and WWII would never hold but then what is the alternative? I agree with you about alternative fuels and in my view we aren't too far from independence from Opec anyway. Fortunately the USA doesn't depend on OPEC as much as other nations, but anyway we have working prototypes for a variety of alternative fuel technologies now so this is one step ahead of the game, plus there is still Anwar and technology could probably be applied to get oil out of there also without hurting the environment. There is some guy up in Petaluma who is running an entire farm with a generator that runs on manure.
